Puppy enjoys the deck May 26,2015

On Rachel's days off she sits outside to work on homework.  Zeus and the birds fit in nicely hanging out on the deck.

Sporting a bandanna while waiting for Matt to come home.

Puppy arrives into our lives May 21, 2015

Before Michael had deployed in the fall he had bought a puppy with his girl friend.  On return from deployment he and the ex-girlfriend could not keep the puppy.  We had Michael send him to us via airplane and we picked him up at National airport.  Unfortunately the puppy had a poop accident during travel and it was all over the crate.  It took so much time to clean him and the crate before loading him in the truck.  He was 9 months old and a red husky.

Time for an update on puppy. He seems to be adjusting to his Virginia home nicely. He behaves well with the birds but the cat is still scared to be around. He is enjoying walking Matt around the neighborhood we even got him this green harness that keeps him safe. He is behaving at night although I did find my hospital shoes in tact near the back door this morning. He is a cute puppy at 9 months and seems happy.  May 23, 2015

Home again Home again

We drove all the way home from Atlanta on the final day.   On our way out we found a Caribou Coffee!  We had to stop because all of the ones around home were sold to a generic coffee shop with half the character of Caribou.  For breakfast we FINALLY got to go to the place Kim wanted to go to, Cracker Barrel.  We hit the road again and after a day of listening to books on tape with Cathy, they said they were OK going to Sibby's based on my recommendation.  It is a place in Warrenton that serves proper southern food.  I was happy when a buddy recommended it following a hike; never had collard greens before but I was a happy boy.  Anyway, they did not let me down and it was nice to end the trip the way we began it in Savannah two weeks prior, with good food and company.

Atlanta

We left the next morning early so we could get to Atlanta early enough to enjoy the day.  When we got there, I guess I was a bit tired and hungry, maybe hangry, because as I was trying to find my way around Rachel started to take control of the situation, which I was totally fine with and really needed, and then turned control back over to me after I had passed by the parking lot I had my eye on so I would have to look up a new location and drive in the city.  After several times I got really upset and we had a short argument in the car in front of her folks.  I just wanted to park and eat but still, not my proudest moment.

We did eventually find somewhere to park and then ate at this near brew-house where the taps at right at the table, very cool.  We did not care for the beer at our table but it was still neat.  After we ate I said we have to go to the Aquarium.  I knew they would love it and they all did!  I was surprised that the penguin exhibit was the highlight for Rachel and Cathy but it was very cool.  I won't spoil the surprise but if you even find yourself in Atlanta with a few hours to kill, that should be your first choice.  I have not don'e everything but of the highlights I have done, this is the coolest thing they have.  Where I close to the city for a few day I might even buy an annual pass so I could go several times.

We ate dinner at a different brew-house and Kim and I ordered a beer flight.  I really enjoyed it but when did it become a sign of sophistication to go heavy on the hops in almost every beer you sell?  At this point my nose was pretty stuffed so perhaps that skewed my pallet but there seemed to be a lot of high IBU beers in the flight.  I would have been happy if ordered a pint two of them but it was nice to try some different beers than I normally would drink too.  The food at that place was awesome.  Kim and I got the fried chicken while Rachel and Cathy got a few apps and one plate to split.
