Next morning we got ready and were at the Anne of Green
Gables site by 8:55, 5 minutes before they open. Rachel watched a sappy movie about Montgomery’s
life and then we looked at the primary two buildings, the barn and the green
gables house. They did a nice job of
making the house ready for tours but still making it look lived in and Rachel
got a few nice pics. After she had her
fill of that site, we used the other part of our combo pass to see the site that
Montgomery actually grew up at. It was a
nice walk through the woods and Rachel told me about some of the settings from
the book as we walked. We came on the
root cellar of the old house that apparently fell and after a few pics, her
great grandson told us about the place and a bit of the history since that
time.
