Wednesday night

As we were preparing to leave Padre Island we had a recommendation to stop at  Brazos Bend  State Park for the night.  They insisted it was a clean campground with hot showers.  WooHoo Hot Showers!  So we decided to leave the beach and spend the night in the woods south of Houston.

This is our little home for the night.  We had a camp fire that night and heard all kinds of animal sounds, two different kinds of owls, coyotes howling, and a some strange animal that sounded like a chattering monkey.  Matt spent time scaring away possums hanging around looking for food.

We watched a family of deer and raccoons in the woods.  There are alligators at this park, but not near us and they are hibernating for the winter.  Darn!  no alligator walking through camp.
