Corpus Christie

On our way to Corpus Christie we stopped at King Ranch, the largest working Ranch in the US and the second largest in the world.  The ranch owns 850000 acres and farms many different things.  It was very interesting to hear about the cowboys that work on then ranch.  It sounds like the take good care of them for life but boy do they have a hard life.

At Corpus Christie, we decided to check into the county park farther north than Padre Island National Seashore.  We picked that because it had hot showers and was since it was very windy, it was also father back and more protected from the gulf.  The first day we were there was a little bit of a disappointment in that we ran errands all day.  I needed a hole in my tire patched and we needed a few items from Wal-Mart and home depot.  We ate a good lunch at a Brew-house, for dessert we had a triple chocolate brownie a la mode.  It was especially good.

The following day we went to see two replicas of Christopher Columbus’ ships, the Pinta and Santa Maria.  They were interesting though it was a little disappointing that they were dry docked and in poor condition even though they were only 20 years old.  With the rest of the day we drove on the beach, relaxed and Rachel took a few pics of us on the beach at sunset.

Our truck had a fun time driving on the beach. A seagull is waiting patiently for Matt to give him a animal cracker.

That is the areas largest pier in the background.

Loved the pelican on the boat.

This is the large causeway over to the beach.

A hawk enjoying a fish.

Some birds next to the causeway.
