Traveling to Big Bend

After we got going, we saw some amazing scenery and Rachel snapped a few pics.  She got one of a rare wild desert rose, can you pick out why they are so rare?  This was a long day but not because of the ground we wanted to cover but because we stopped to take so many pics, a few are below.

Before we got to Big Bend we traveled what may have been the longest stretch of the most flat and straight in the US, Texas 118.  It goes from Alpine STRAIGHT to Big Bend Ranch State Park and that was probably a good thing because we drove through a dust storm, not like the ones you see on TV, and we could not see much or the mountains that defined the valley we followed all the way down and the desert was mo-no-to-nous to look at.

It looks cloudy but really it is dust.
