After we got going, we saw some amazing scenery and Rachel
snapped a few pics. She got one of a
rare wild desert rose, can you pick out why they are so rare? This was a long day but not because of the
ground we wanted to cover but because we stopped to take so many pics, a few
are below.
Before we got to Big Bend we traveled what may have been the
longest stretch of the most flat and straight in the US, Texas 118. It goes from Alpine STRAIGHT to Big Bend Ranch
State Park and that was probably a good thing because we drove through a dust
storm, not like the ones you see on TV, and we could not see much or the
mountains that defined the valley we followed all the way down and the desert
was mo-no-to-nous to look at.
It looks cloudy but really it is dust.
