OKC and Michael

Oklahoma City
We arrived at Tinker AFB Oklahoma City at 5 Pm on Friday.  After Michael checked us into the base we drove to the bases campground.  Michael and Alyssa helped us set up our camper and arrange everything.  We decided to eat at a pizza shop called The Wedge in downtown very close to the local college.  The Wedge had unusual combinations of pizzas we had:
The Napoli:  caramelized walnuts, asiago cheese, arugula, rosemary, pancetta
Truffle-shuffle:  truffle oil, sage, crimini mushrooms, spinach, roasted chicken, parmesan, mozzarella

Saturday Michael and Alyssa joined us for breakfast in our camper.  They announced that Michael had proposed to Alyssa the night before.  We are so happy for the newly engaged couple.

Because of the nice sunny weather in the 60’s we decided to visit the Oklahoma zoo for some animal fun.  Along with viewing all the animals at the zoo we enjoyed the sea lion show, petted stingrays, and fed Lorikeets.

Lunch Saturday was at an Irish pub in downtown Oklahoma City.  Matthew and Michael enjoyed a beer together and Alyssa and I had fresh lemonade.  The pub was celebrating St. Patrick day and everyone loved the shepherds pie, fish & chips, and veggie pies.

Rachel had been battling a cold for several days, so after lunch she took a nap in the camper while M & M ran a few errands.  For dinner Matt cooked some delicious chili in Michael’s dorm common area.  That night it rained and the winds gusted up to 50 mph.  Our little camper held its ground.  Not a single leak, and although the camper did shake in the wind we did not blow away.

Sunday was a little slower.  We met M&A for a matinée showing of the Lego Movie and enjoyed the comfy reclining chairs in the theatre.  After the movie we had lunch at the Golden Phoenix for some Asian food.  For dinner we cooked broccoli soup in the dorm and just enjoyed hanging out.

This is the runway where the planes are kept, he goes to work here every day.
